What started off as a promising month against all the odds quickly turned into despair, and all against Newcastle Jets.

The match which finally decided the final A-League standings ended in success after a confident performance from Mariners.
Player of the Month: Adam Kwasnik
Two goals in four games ensured the midfielder returned to the starting line up.
Goal of the Month: Adam Kwasnik V Newcastle Jets
Outstanding finish from the young midfielder, cutting inside from the wing, past two defenders, and then drilling the ball home.

It was a peculiar month for the Mariners, one full of mixed emotions, and from it all, there was just a single meagre win for the yellow and navy. (more…)

The FFA (Farcical Flaming Answers, or Football Federation Australia as it is more commonly known) have come up with a new way to make things complicated.

They ruled today that despite Central Coast and Newcastle Jets having earned the right to host the Grand Final at their stadium, it will instead be held in Sydney - possibly the most hated team in the A-League.

Newly crowned minor premier Central Coast is about to discover the price of success as more than half its squad is yet to be re-signed for next season.

In a situation the club would rather not have to deal with just six days before the first leg of its major semi-final against Newcastle Jets, The Australian can reveal 14 Mariners are still negotiating new contracts.

This is on top of doubts surrounding the future at the club of Socceroos striker John Aloisi.

You might have been forgiven for writing off Central Coast early on - despite sitting atop of the A-League for almost the whole season, we found ourselves stuck down in 4th place, with the worst goal difference of the lot.

Added to being on the worst run of form, a win against Wellington Phoenix certainly wasn’t guaranteed, particularly as the bottom club still had an opportunity to avoid collecting the ‘Wooden Spoon’.
